Padding is good for the guitar. Bad for the zipper.

I grabbed this bag to carry around my Ibanez SZ320 electric guitar. The fit is great - it's not too wide and not too long. The pockets in the front aren't too bulky and don't stick out too far, but they're still big enough to carry everything I need - manuscript book, medium-sized songbook, korg guitar tuner, and a 10-foot-long cable.
The handle is sturdy, as are the straps that let you wear the bag as a backpack. Most important - I feel pretty safe carrying my guitar around in this bag because it has padding on both sides, ensuring my guitar will be protected from dents and dings. I don't think it's sturdy enough to drop the case but, let's be honest, only a dolt is going to drop their guitar.
With all these good things, you might wonder why only 3 stars. It's because I get frustrated every time I try to zip the danged thing up. Like I said, the bag is nicely padded. Unfortunately, the padding isn't tucked in as well as it should be and it always gets stuck in the zipper. I have to keep one finger an inch ahead of the zipper, making sure the padding is hidden out of the way. It unzips problem-free 90% of the time, but that other 10%? Holy frustrating, batman.
Of course, I've only ever seen one of these bags (mine), so it could be I just got a bunk bag. Maybe Inspector No. 84 was drunk when he had to inspect my bag. Who knows?
So that's that. Good pockets. Good straps. Great padding. Zipper is dumb. |
